GCSAA Delegates Update
March 2010
I have to say the GIS Show in San Diego was outstanding! In his last term, the career of Mark D. Kuhns (president of the GCSAA) was honored and highlighted at the Celebrate GCSAA & Awards Ceremony. A huge note of “thanks” goes out to Mark for all his efforts and hard work as GCSAA President! This year we had new elections for GCSAA Board Members and although Todd Lupkes (Past President of WWGCSA) did not make the board, Pat Finlen (Superintendent of The Olympic Club in San Francisco) renewed his term as a board of director and received a majority of the votes.
The Olympic Club is hosting the 2012 US Open, with Pat Finlen and his team in full force to prepare the course for the prestigious event. Pat will have a considerable work load leading up to this event. The WWGCSA has asked Pat to come talk at the 2010 Washington Turf & Landscape Show at the Meydenbauer Center. Pat will speak at the Professional Development Seminar sharing the challenges he will face preparing for the 2012 US Open and his role as a GCSAA Board Member. I look forward to having Pat visit and speak to our WWGCSA Members.
On another note; as the Treasurer/Secretary of the WWGCSA I’m dedicated to the chapter and similar to any person elected to represent the members of WWGCSA, a primary role for a Board member is to be the voice for members in the organization. A Board member is a visible person, capable of taking information and ideals from various members and effectively relaying the message. Having an open line of communication with other members and supplying direction to the actions of the Board is equally important. I believe my time and commitment to this Chapter and its ideals are strongly aligned with my personal and career goals. If I can help or assist in any way for another fellow member, please do not hesitate to contact me.
